Extensive renovation and addition to a 1920's Austin Bungalow in Old West Austin.

617 Oakland Ave Extensive renovation and addition to a 1920's Austin Bungalow in Old West Austin. When the Owner first bought this house, it was badly in need of maintenance, a new foundation, exterior drainage and central HVAC. The house also had extensive carpenter ant damage which necessitated the restructuring of the entire back quarter of the house. The Owner loved the authentic bungalow style and wanted to restore it, while remodeling major areas such as the master bath and kitchen/breakfast areas. The original oak flooring and brick chimney, fireplace and hearth were refurbished as well. The Owner also wanted to expand the current space to fit the needs of his growing family and real estate business. The challenge was to infill the large open attic area to provide necessary additional space. The final space is a vaulted bedroom and bathroom with a large dormered roof that opens the space toward the back of the property but preserves the look of the house from the street.
